    /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-lo looks like this
    Code:
    DEVICE=lo
    IPADDR=127.0.0.1
    NETMASK=255.0.0.0
    NETWORK=127.0.0.0
    # If you're having problems with gated making 127.0.0.0/8 a martian,
    # you can change this to something else (255.255.255.255, for example)
    BROADCAST=127.255.255.255
    ONBOOT=yes
    NAME=loopback

    /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-venet0 looks like this
    Code:
    DEVICE=venet0
    BOOTPROTO=static
    ONBOOT=yes
    IPADDR=127.0.0.1
    NETMASK=255.255.255.255

    Do you have any reason why are you assigning localhost to the venet0? That network interface should have an IP and also a default gateway configured.

    I'm assuming you're on an OpenVZ platform since you have a venet device on your machine.

    Can you post the output of the following?

    $ifconfig
    $route -n
    $cat /etc/resolv.conf
    Can you ping anything (via IP)? ex ping 8.8.8.8

    I've seen this today on a centos 6.5 container running on a centos 5 hostnode. I am not aware of a fix for venet yet. Using veth will get you back online http://openvz.org/Veth

    My guess is a centos 6.5 update is causing it. I have a report in already with Parallels though my Maintenance Partnership.
