Issue with IIS SMTP and PHP in Windows 2008 R2
I am managing a customer's server which is a Windows 2008 R2 server with IIS 7.5 and the customer is using Hosting Controller. Every few days there is a weird issue occurring where the CDOSYS codes using IIS SMTP suddenly start throwing the error '80040211' and php scripts stop working. Only after the server is completely rebooted, they start working. I have tried to find the solution but unable to find it. Can anyone help?

CDOSYS is usually associated with ASP and not PHP, though I hear PHP can call it. If it is using ASP the 80040211 error should be accompanied with a line number for the ASP email script. Is it showing that?

I am not talking about using cdosys with php or issue with cdosys script. It is just that both cdosys and php issue occur at the same time and resolve only after the server is rebooted. I want to understand why Windows is behaving this way. There is no error recorded in Event Logs too.

What is the error from a PHP page? Have you stopped and started the application pool, and IIS+SMTP services?

PHP pages just throw an internal server error. I have tried to restart everything except the server. Rebooting the server definitely resolves the issue, but I need a solution where the server reboot is not required at all.

I have already mentioned it is not an issue with PHP or with IIS SMTP, but something to do with Windows. I am still trying for a solution. Still FYI, the PHP is configured as FastCGI.
