I have had a ded IP for two years now but seems like every year i go through this. So i thought i would do this post so that i can look at this next year as a reminder.
What has happened this time is that my host took me off my ded IP for a couple of weeks until we could get some other issues straight.
Now that those issues have been resolved they have issued my reseller account and whm a new ded IP.
My SSL is through rapidssl.
My company website and the WHMCS WHM are still at the old shared IP.
Honestly im sitting here and i dont have a clue what to do or in what steps to do this yet again.
I know i need to add the IP to my whmcs and then change the http on some links i have back to https
I know i need to reissue my whmcs license under the new IP
I know i need to add the new ded IP to my opensrs api acceptable IP's list.
What i do not know is:
In what order do this?
Will this affect my clients on the shared server (i am going with my hosts generic dns right now i will change that later to my custom dns, i want to do this in steps, so the dns should stay the same)?
Do i need to login and reissue my rapidssl certificate for the new IP or is it just under the domain name.
Do i need to go into my WHM and change my company domain account IP to the new ded IP.
Have i missed anything that is stardard practice?
As far as anything else i have no clue what to do and in what order to do this.
I also hope that this will help others get this in the right order...
i still have the old cert info in my cpanel as it is now. Im not sure what you mean by reinstall. Is that thru cpanel or is that thru rapidssl. Is that just using the regenerate thru the cpanel crt option in the ssl section?
Ok i added the ip to the opensrs waited about an hour and that seems to be fine.
I also cleared my cache and the site and everything is available on the new ip now.
But i have two issues.
1. im in whm and im looking at the ssl storage section in whm.. It reads
Listed below are all SSL keys, certificates, and CSRs that you control. Certificates and CSRs are grouped with their associated private key, if any.
No SSL certificates are installed in Apache’s configuration for your account.
User Account SSL Resources
The SSL resources below are available to your account.
my ssl is listed here but it says no ssl cert are installed above, do i need to do anything or is this normal? I dont see an install option.
2. When i put https://companyname.com/billing/ in WHMCS for the option for WHMCS SSL System URL and save it i lose the WHMCS page not found. Luckily i could remove that item via database direct sql update. Otherwise i would be locked out.
well no wonder i always get confused every year, i always have trouble with SSL and getting it to work. And here you go again dave.. is it www or not www on the CSR why wont install work. And yet again this year my host is having to do this for me because i cant get it to work right...
Plus i have no clue where to post my new ded ip in WHMCS under server or where, and do i list all the ips in the ip box or just the ded.. im so lost again this year...
