    FDC Ziln Network

I have about 30 dedicated servers for my VPN service right now and lately I had been having people complain about the Ziln server being slow. I thought at first it was because of IP modulation which has a performance hit but today I was on the server and did some traces and was seeing 70ms on the first hop and getting 9-15MB/s downloading 1G and 5G test files from speedtest. I put a support ticket in. The server is 1Gbit unmetered. I usually stay away from unmetered servers but I had good experience with them in Chicago so I thought I would give it a try.

I am paying around 300 per month per server. I figured 200Mbit would be acceptable but I have never seen 200Mbit off the server. Am I expecting to much?

    Hi There,

200Mbps isn`t much to expect. You should be able to push way more than that.

Please open up a ticket with our helpdesk and feel free to PM me with the ticket #

    Thank you

Do you know if they maybe cap the speed in the location you have problems with? Some providers do that on their 1 Gbit ports.
You can better contact them to ask and see if they might be able to resolve it for you.

I have been in contact with them. 70ms ping on the first hop to their own router screams over saturated imo. I am hoping they will move me to a different router but I am not holding my breath.

Do you actually read ALL posts before hitting reply? The provider replied to the OP 2 hours before your non helpful response.

Seems you have a habit of doing this on WHT. Just keen to get your signature out there??

bummer6666 has said you should be able to push more than 200Mbps so work with them to find a suitable solution. Sounds like you may have an abuser on your router/switch if you aren't obtaining this speed..

#605640 but the admin didnt see a problem when he did an MTR. When I checked it was cleared up but then I tried downloading a 1GB test file from my Leaseweb dedicated in Germany and was getting 900kbs - 2MB/s. I canceled the download after about 10 minutes. The Leaseweb server is not the problem as I can get about 80% of the max throughput on that server without issue. Here is the MTR to Greece.

    From Ziln to Greece =(

FWIW, I used FDC on and off for four years and tried all of their locations during this time, including Zlin and Amsterdam. The network was always some quantifier of "bad", ranging from "kinda" to "horrifyingly" (particularly Amsterdam).

At the end of the day, low prices only go that far.
