Question Pay BuyDomains.com directly to buy a domain? or use sedo?

    Hi,

I am ready to buy a domain for $1000 from BuyDomains.com.
I told them I want to use sedo because there is nothing that guarantees me they will transfer it after the payment.
They say, no, no, pay us and we will transfer it...

    I am very suspicious...
I told them I will pay the fees, so if it does not cost them anything, why would they refuse to use sedo? ...

Your thoughts please, I don't want to get scammed!

    Thank you.

BuyDomains.com is owned by NameMedia, a rather large company (who has sold parts of it's operations to GoDaddy in the past), so I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that if a company as large as GoDaddy is willing to make a purchase from them...it's a pretty safe buy.

tldr; they aren't some small fly by night website...they are owned by a large corporation, with 90+ employees.

    Ok, I see, Thanks.
But if they own the domain (they do) and that I will pay the fees, why refusing to use Sedo for the transfer?
That just makes me very suspicious...
No additional cost, where is the problem? ...

That would be like asking walmart if they wouldn't mind taking your purchase over to target so you can buy it...

    sedo is a competitor...

I don't speak for everyone, but I would. You can't expect to ask a company to do business through a competing company...to be honest, to expect that is just obnoxious.

Do they offer using Escrow.com? I've bought/sold many domains and always try to use escrow.com. The process is a little slower just because of the steps involved. they have good support.

I do know that a friend/client of mine purchased easily $100k+ worth of domains directly from BuyDomians approx. 3 years ago and had no problems.

I do not understand the idea of asking BuyD to use Sedo. That is an odd pairing.

You don't necessarily get it from BuyDomains. I suggest you to get it brokered

Too late, I already paid... now it's 2 days that I'm waiting for the domain... we'll see if it was a good or bad idea...

    Lightbulb

I bought a domain from them by direct payment, it took around 4-5 days to get login information etc to get access of your domain.

And after that you can transfer it out to your fav registrar such as Godaddy / name.com / whatever.

    NameMedia is legit. Don't worry
They have phone number anyway, if you worried, just call them

All right, I got the domain
I could transfer it, it's all right.
Took more than 5 days for me thought. Just like everybody, they like to keep it slow once it's paid.

    Thanks everyone!
