NTP stopped working: localhost: timed out, nothing received

Nagios has just alrted me that the ftpd daemon has just stopped working on one server.

I have tried everthing I can think of and my config matches this exactly:

    If I run:

    [email protected] [~]# ntpq -p
    localhost: timed out, nothing received
    ***Request timed out

    any advice would be great.

What happens when you do: ntpdate

Your error description sounds like either the NTP servers you're connecting to are down, or your firewall is blocking the connection. Make sure to open port 123 for outgoing/incoming UDP connections.
