Advice on VPS hosting with CPanel

    Hey everyone,
there are already a lot of threads very similar to mine, but chosing the right hosting provider seems to be very reliant on one's individual demands. Hopefully, someone could point out a reliable service that suits my needs.

As mentioned in the title, I'm looking for VPS hosting with CPanel. I have to be able to manage an unlimited amount of domains. Traffic is expected from all over the world, so the server's location probably isn't very important. Performance-wise, it has to be able to able to handle tracking with Prosper 202 for several thousand visits a day (just to be safe). I also wouldn't want to go for less than 1GB Ram.

My budget is limited, therefore a compromise between quality and pricing might have to be found. I'd like to stay below 40$/month, the cheaper the better.

Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well cPanel generally takes $10 on average off the top, but it then depends on if you want it managed or unmanaged as you will probably be able to get more resources from an unmanaged VPS however you sacrifice getting support when issues arise.

Since I have very little experience, I should probably stick with a managed VPS for now. I was assuming that every VPS that includes CPanel is managed.

Edit: The maximum I'm willing to spend are 40€/month, not 40$. I keep forgetting that that makes quite a difference. Still, I'd prefer if I could get away with less.

I've been browsing through several threads on the last five pages for the last hour. I bookmarked some providers but I can't choose one yet.

I'm not quite sure how much disk space I'm going to need. Not a huge amount. 20GB might be sufficient.

Your budget is fine. Remember cPanel itself uses 300-400 mb of RAM. You should be looking for at least 2-3 GB of RAM.

I'll keep that in mind, thank you. You don't have any specific suggestions?

In the majority of cases it isn't the case. A lot of servers are sold as Unmanaged and then sell the Licence on top. Your then lucky if the host pre-install the software + licence for you.

Garvante: You need at least 2GB's of RAM to experience decent outcomes with these requirements as 300-400MB's of RAM is lost straight off just running the cPanel and its process's without loading PHP/MySQL.

Use the Offers section and look for reviews of hosts on here and make an informed choice. Good luck and do lots of reading on setting up and hardening your server if your not going to use a managed provider.

There is a nice niche of cPanel Managed VPS providers though. I would just make sure to limit your search to that, and make sure that cPanel is in fact pre-installed before you select your host.

The usual suspects: LiquidWeb. Knownhost, etc. Use one of those.

Don't blow your entire budget on the front end VPS. You need a remote backup solution as well.

Since you are looking for a managed VPS because you say that you don't have a lot of technical expertise are you sure that you are heading in the right direction? Perhaps a reseller account that meets your criteria would be a better direction to go. This way you can lean on the host for help with script issues and you don't have to deal with the day to day operation of the server.

I would suggest that you go with a reputable reseller that gives you the time of day when you start asking for suggestions. Chat with some hosts and see what they have to say. You are likely to find better performance on a reseller account than a smaller VPS.

I am assuming you don't want to do anything "weird" like send a bunch of email or offer alternative services.

If hosting location isn't an issue, data centers in India can provide you with a config of 2GB RAM with 50 GB of HDD space with cpanel on a 100 Mbps port for around 25 € per month. You could do a bit of research if location of hosting is not an issue.
