    Exclamation opendns blocks gmail!?

    Hello friends,

    I use opendns ip as first dns server and google dns ip as 2nd dns server in my office pc.

    Just now i tried visiting gmail thru a book mark and here is what I got(attached a screen shot too)..

    Sorry, but mail.google.com is blocked on this network.

    I never saw this earlier.. why would opendns block gmail?

    No. I did try disabling firewall, antivirus scanner/s and proxy.. nothing helped. I'm quite sure it was opendns which blocked the url.

    did you check the screen shot? it does show where I got redirected to..

    Perhaps your sysadmin has blocked gmail via opendns? Check this: http://www.opendns.com/support/article/65

    I myself is the admin here and I never signed up to opendns(only using their dns ip). Probably, this may be a temporary filter misconfiguration from opendns.

    Btw, I just changed the primary dns ip to google dns ip and every thing is fine.

    Your IP could have been compromised and someone has used it to filter gmail?

    It is an OpenDNS problem, I have it here too. Time to de-activate OpenDNS and forget about it: their community based (pishtank.com?) has been compromised, and a smart a$$ probably got Gmail.com blacklisted...

    I fired myself and appointed a new admin(myself)

    @jcn50 thanks for confirmation. i now use google dns ip for primary dns and open dns ip as secondary dns server.
