I have a dedicated server with following specification.
Intel Xeon CPU E3 1230 @ 3.2 Ghz 3.2 Ghz
4 X 3.2 Ghz
16GB DDR3 RAM.
1TB Harddisk SATA 5200 RPM.
Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit Standard Edition.
I used HYPERV feature of my server to create a single Virtual Machine with 512mb ram & 1 logical processor.
I am confused in 1 logical processor allotement in Hyper V Manager VM settings. I have maximum number of logical processor 4. I set 1 for this VM. I want to know how much processor in Ghz total I set for this VM.
is it 3.2 + 3.2 Ghz = 6.4 Ghz?
If yes how can I limit 1Ghz total to this VM. If I am guessing right my total processor Ghz is 8 X 3.2 = 25.6 Ghz.
I want to distribute 1Ghz to each VM. Total of 20 VM with 20 Ghz allotement. Is this possible?
I will be using 5.6 Ghz to my main Windows Server 2008 R2 OS.

I have already read this article. As per this article I have 32 vCPU (4Core). Recently I purchased 12 core. It means it have 96 vCpu. I can use each vCpu per VM. Say 1 logical processor or 1 core (Out Of 12 Core) assign to this one VM. I can max limit resource used by this VM to say 30%. This way i can assign lesser resource on my HyperV per VM. Means more VMs.
