Does anyone have direct experience (positive or negative) w/ Twitter ads that you can buy from a specific site w/ followers? They range anywhere from $20 to $300 per tweet depending on number of followers.
We used Twitter advertisements and did not find it to be terribly effective (it led to a couple conversions but for the money we broken even at best) -- don't think too many use Twitter are interested in web hosting offers.

I would say your better trying to backlink via Twitter/Use it for your customers rather than using it as a source for custom. Similar with Facebook their ad campaigns appear to be fruitless in WebHosting.

You will have better use of facebook than twitter followers. Facebook likes or followers might be cheaper than twitter's. If you are willing to pay for marketing, pay for seo expert or ads on popular sites related to hosting.
Twitter can be useful to communicate with your current clients(in case they are following your company) but for adds, especially when you have a limited budget...I am sure you can find a better way like advertising on a hosting forum or something similar.
I've used Twitter a lot for advertising. I have a small dedicated budget that I don't really expect to see clear ROI from, but I use it to promote thought leadership. So blog posts, notable social media posts, and infographics get social sharing from Twitter posts, and ultimately improves our time on site, bounce rate, and social shares. It's more of a community tool for us than it is a revgen tool.
