    Tutorials to learn unmanaged VPS?

    Hello there!

    I just bought a 512 MB VPS from RamNode to learn managing them.
    Can anyone give me a link to any guides/tutorials so that it makes my work easier?

    Thanks!

    It depends for which purpose you would like to use. Would you like to setup Apache, PHP, MySQL? Google is the best friend

    HowtoForge has some good tutorials. You can also try to find or buy some ebooks. They usually explain things more thoroughly.

    What OS are you running?

    Since I don't know that I can't give great advice however cyberciti is a nice site for learning Linux:

    The best way is to start using the VPS for something. For example, you can start with a joomla or wordpress setup. That way you will learn a lot of things, as, how to use wget, FTP, mysql, php, apache etc... So, give you self a goal and start it. Once you have the goal you cn start using google to find a tutorial, you can ask on this forum for guides and help etc... in any case, you will have more strict thing to ask than just how to start using linux vps.

    Thanks everyone for the replies. It has Ubuntu 12.10 64-bit OS installed. I just did it using the SSH commands.

    -> Currently I am going to move my files and databases from shared hosting to VPS.

    -> Install zPanel

    -> My RDP is so slow, I can't access it fast. Is there any way to access the VPS through browser like we do for cPanel shared hosting?

    You can use SCP client to transfer files to your VPS with a simple user interface. It basically works like FTP. WinSCP is a good client for Windows.
