Which server monitoring service do you use?

Internally, we use nagios. Externally, we use Panopta. Both services can get pretty granular, which is nice. You can monitor pesky services that stop for some reason or get alerts when you're reaching high disk usage. They are both very nice. Panopta offers SMS alerts as well.

We use nagios to monitor more than 1000 servers. It's not just host-check or service down, but we use Nagios to monitor a lot of parameters like mailqueue, firewall status, disk space etc.

We do also use nagios to monitor 700 hosts and have 4000 serivce checks.
Right now we are also look at Observium for server/trend monitoring. The biggest win is that Observium tries to discover all it can monitor. So you never forget to add a new port/entity.

We use CopperEgg to manage over 200 servers and simply love it.

Even thought nagios can pretty much do what copperegg does, the main point is its UI.

Yes its paid. We spend about 600$ to monitor 200 servers. But its totally worth it.

We have noticed its alert notification and monitoring to work better than most traditional systems.

    yes monthly.

We monitor several parameters including network probes... Help s us detect and compare network issues across multiple services. Lots of useful network intelligence.

Copperegg is aimed towards enterprises I believe. Should be useful for big data & SaaS providers. they also have tons of modules to integrate with all popular platforms,

We have tried that in past. Its UI sucks.

You can rather go with observium if you are looking for a freeware solution.

Rather than the interval, we are concerned about the parameters we monitor. We monitor almost 45 parameters in each server.
