Question udp and icmp disabled on reverse proxy server good or bad?

I want to create few reverse proxy servers to protect my main server from ddos attacks and my host recommended to me to disable udp and icmp traffic on router for my server...

Is this good or bad solution? Can this generate some problems on visitors side?

    Thanks.

    hi,
if you host only website is always a good idea disable these protocol because are unused. In DDoS filtering is a good practice disable what you not use to avoid holes that attacker can use.
