Network interface is not present in CentOS 6

I just rebooted my CentOS 6.4 box after uncommenting a few lines in NFS configuration after reboot CentOS does not detect the network interface. By running command "service network restart", it says "It seems network interface is not present". Data Center staff says there is no way rather than reloading the OS. I tried deleting /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules and rebooted. It created the rules file again but it didn't fix.

Please advise if there is another way.

    Thanks in advance.

check ifconfig, does it show any interfaces? post it here and ifcfg-eth0 (location: /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0)

Maybe your provider had a custom module loaded for a non-supported NIC, and when you rebooted you loaded a different kernel.

What do you see in lspci for the controller?

Try loading other kernels by changing the grub default until it works. Be sure to clear the udev each time.
