From my vps to access RESTFul service in China is VERY slow

My VPS is located in Chicago, when I access restful service in China, I usually get 1KB/s speed, sometimes only 700B/s. However if I use my home PC (Rogers network in Toronto), I get at least 44KB/s, sometimes >100KB/s.

Opened a ticket to my VPS provider, I was told the following:

"The issue appears to be on the Chinanet network and we don't have the ability to route around Chinanet"

So, I am wondering if I switch to a west coast DC would it help? My current VPS has servers in CA.

Also, anyone knows a good vps with good connection to China?

    thanks

If you're looking for good connectivity to China, it's best to find a provider on the West Coast such as Los Angeles.

I think the main issue is your home internet connection. How fast is that?
I'm in Australia and I always get at least 10-20Mbps speed, sometimes up to 50Mbps to my VPS in USA.

If you want server from USA then look for a provider in West Coast (LA). Also test it before purchase (test ping/tracert).
    Looking around for some time

Contact each of the providers for a traceroute as routes will differ depending on which uplinks the provider has.

    Hi,

Do you really need a provider in US base?

As I know there is a firewall filter all the traffics from international before entering into China, this is the main reason most of the outsider facing slow connection to/from china. You should look for those providers do have direct link to chinacom or you can look for the hosting provider in HK.

    Thank you
