i wanted to write this for some time now, but i waited for the first downtime to happen... and it did...
so I ordered my first colo package with them about a year ago. I remember we discussed a lot during Christmas/NYE period to add more servers... even if there were holidays, support/sales were present 24/7... since I'm in Europe and they are in US the time difference it's kind of important. Didn't matter for them.
Last night, one of their switches where my servers are connected failed. I opened a support ticked within minutes. They replied that they are working on it in less than 5 minutes. Greatly appreciate it.
My customers were getting nervous, so I asked Dacentec for an update about 15-20 minutes later. Couple of minute afterwards, I received a reply that they had a DDoS attack which broke one of their switches, but they are working hard to restore the configuration on a new one. In the same time I had a MTR started to my IPs and I could actually see how routes were changing.
After about 2-3 hours, all servers were up and running again.
Bottom line, their support was there, ready to fix the issue when I needed. Since this was the first downtime in almost a year now and they don't have 100% SLA I'm super happy with how fast they reacted and the way they acted.
Excellent. I was hoping to hear some new reviews on these guys. I'm interested in their rent to own. Seems like a inexpensive way to get yourself a server and some hosting at a fairly inexpensive rate for soem side projects.
