Its that time of year again to look for a new host. This time its because UKFast are not doing anything about their Spamhaus issues and seem not to want to provide any support to the Burstnet customers they inherited.
So, I'm after a VPS something like the following for under £10/month:
UK based servers and support, preferably VAT registered
OpenVZ with console access (e.g. vzctl enter), full root etc.
Debian7/Ubuntu12 templates (or one that can be rsync'ed over)
local dns servers
2-3 ip addresses (not on an RBL!)
i don't use much bandwidth/disk and i don't need management or control panel. i'd prefer a company that's been going a while not a one-man-band that's just bought a server.
servers don't have to be in the UK i guess, but i'd prefer support was - i don't want to wait 8 hours for the USA to wake up and would prefer to be able to phone someone.
the dotvps.co 3gb/$7 package looks exactly what i need, but its seems like they've had endless hardware problems and ddos in the uk, can anyone review them?
Is there something specific in the 'psuedo virtualised' timeshare OVZ system you must have or would any VM do ?
i want to use openvz as i'm used to it and can develop the vm at home before uploading.
what do you mean by "pseudo virtualised timeshare", to me that's cloud which i'm not interested in, with openvz (ovh calls "classic") its a container, so faster than esx/kvm/xen which is virtualisation.
my budget is around £10 ($15) per month, could pay more for a great service, but it seems there's some pretty good offerings for under $10 (on face value).
