    Servermania: Extreme Packet Loss [Excuses?]

    Hello,

I've been experiencing extreme packet loss with Servermania, I suggest you don't buy a server from them for many reasons, they claim with that this packet loss is with every server...

XXXXX, the problem is not us, do the same test on any other server and you will see the same result 80% packet loss.

    Jeff C.
    Went here - http://cloudmonitor.ca.com/en/ping.php

Typed in my server IP: 192.157.59.250 (test ip from Servermania)

50% of the results show packet losses up to 40%

Now I was concerned but they claimed it was not only theirs, try it with others, excuses or no, so I tried about 5 other servers via cloudmonitor and no packet loss what so ever... My other server IP (not servermania): 192.65.242.212, 0 Packet Loss.

Tried with my other server from Hudson Valley Hosts: 192.3.91.26 and only 1 packet loss of 10% now what's the conclusion?

So please listen to what was said, on WINMTR I experienced 80% packet loss, on cloudmonitor it was 50% of the locations shown had packet loss, so the question is, does this happen to all servers? or is this some joke by Servermania?

    Vouches Of My Issue

Especially considering the price and now that I've started getting intermittent packet loss on my Server Mania VPS

Ask them if they have any firewall filtering. You may consider sending them results of a test to the gateway IP so that it can not be your own server firewall blocking the ping requests.

If other ISP’s are showing packet loss to our network an MTR must be provided in order for us to determine where the packet loss is taking place. After notifying you that the issue was located within your ISP, your ticket reply was “Okay thanks.” which indicates to our staff that you are satisfied with their response.

We have since refunded your account in full since we do not like to see dissatisfied customers.

We wish you the best of luck in the future.

    Hello Brian,

Thank you for providing these traceroutes. It is possible this hop also has ICMP Protection on it, which is furthered by the fact that the ping spikes/loss does not continue after the hop in the trace route. We would need MTR's to verify.

We host over 3,000 dedicated servers with thousands of customers across the globe, and this is the only report of an network issue. At this point, the customer has been refunded.

I have two servers with ServerMania and haven't noticed any problems at all today in their New York location.
