I was using LiquidWeb since last 3 months and the support was exceptional. They did whatever I asked.
I only had to leave them because of the load problems and I started looking for better options. Now when I ask them to install varnish and nginx, they say, thats charged extra.
Hello Soamz. I am sorry to hear that you are upset with our services. I took every precaution to answer questions in pre-sales regarding your needs. One of them specifically was what fully managed covers. With that I told you that anything pre-installed or under the scope of cPanel was covered but that third party products you bring to the server are your responsibility.
And I asked to change php handler to DSO and install memcached and APC, they said, DSO permision issues are not covered in support.
I think the confusion here is that we don't know what permission levels you need for your software under DSO vs SuPHP. Only you will know what permission levels are required for your code and directory structures.
I feel like I did a wrong decision, yet again.

If you are truly unhappy, I would be willing to make an exception and provide you with a complete refund so that you may easily move to another hosting company.

From what I have seen with many managed providers, everything you mentioned is standard and should be installed by them. Usually managed providers do not support third party scripts, coding issues etc.
Those should be standard.

Very, very few hosts offer this level of advanced management. EuroVPS (my main host for 7+ years now) is one of them. But it's not cheap or free! However it can be done if you want to pay for it. They can do caches, nginx, etc -- most anything on a server. (Does NOT include site software, like WordPress, Joomla, etc. That's still on you. They're not devs, they're a host!)
Should I feel guilty for *partially* encouraging you to have a try with WiredTree? I think now that's your problem because you just couldn't satisfy with any hosting providers. WiredTree support staffs do help me to have a look at 3rd party scripts or etc (maybe I was just lucky to have someone who is passion in his job as support). Or maybe my requests weren't as complicated as yours, but I seriously think you cannot take any hosting provider for granted just because they are "fully managed". Just my opinion.
Well, my experience with WiredTree support has been great. If you don't expect them to be there every minute to install and configure every small thing for you, you won't have a problem. You'll have to learn how to manage things eventually yourself. Unfortunately I'm leaving them as I'm trying to save money, however if I'm able to again I definitely would.
I know from expireance Wiredtree are fairly good as hosts but there support did leave me scratching my head a few times, hence one of the reasons I left (not the main reason).
I'm now with Future Hosting and I have nothng but praise for them, ok occasionly I have to wait for support replies but they have a trafic light system in place so if its urgent then it gets high priority.
They have also done every single thing I have ever asked of them, this includes enabling, disabling and adding new scripts for me. I have also been informed that they will install a 3rd party script for me, havnt asked properly yet but if they do then they will officially be the best host I have ever been with
