Any of these SSL will be fine for securing your billing platform. They should all offer the same level of security and encryption, more or less.

@thakuryatin all the options you listed are domain validation certs, they will be nearly indistinguishable from each other (from an end-users perspective). http://www.startssl.com/ is another option.

once you get used to the unconventional way they handle authenticating yourself to their site, and how they work out how much you need to pay to have the relevant level of SSL

This is true! I tried them once, but never actually setup the certificate, though I have seen several users speak positively about them. The OP appeared to be comparing all of the bargain certs, figured might as well include startssl as well.

The listed SSL certificates offer the same protection.

If you want to show a site seal with business information you could go for the Comodo InstantSSL - otherwise choose any of the domain validated SSL certificates...

They are more or less the same. If you are looking for something distinguishable, go for EV certs that display the green address bar.

Try Geotrust QuickSSL Premium SSL if the budget is a problem. There you have dynamic seal.

They provide same level of protection. If budget is not concern then go with EV to have green bar with business validation.

I've been using comodo positive ssl and it does the job no need for a high cost SSL unless your a registered business get the EV green bar one

A basic SSL will work for a startup. As you get bigger, you will want to look into getting an EV SSL.

SSL certificates typically are two parts
    1. Encryption
    2. Authentication

Typically, all SSL's will provide the same level of encryption - even self signed certificates. However, in terms of authentication it's different. The more pricier certificates perform more verification of the buyer.

If you purchase an SSL that does a lot of verification in terms of verifying your business address, phone number etc. then naturally that'll be more expensive. But in addition to that, when you put that site seal up and it shows and independent company has verified your address/number/business etc. then that can potentially instil a great deal of confidence in the prospective buyer.

    Excellent answer.

Additionally, who you buy it from and who is going to install the cert is a bit of a factor. If you can install the cert yourself, fine. Otherwise ask your host if they allow you to install a cert you purchased separately. If so, do they charge for installation?

Comodo Positive SSL is the cheapest, so if your looking to save money but get a decent SSL that would be the choice for you. However I prefer myself RapidSSL because the orders are so simple.

Based on the listed SSL's It doesn't really matter. For a startup, any of them will work. We usually sell comodo most of the time, and the order process is as easy as RapidSSL.

    SSL Certificates and other services

    Hi,
The SSL certificate from Comodo seems too high.......is that a standard or premium fee? How about WebSparke.com? I see that their prices are half the price of SSL and even webhosting and domain names and other services. Do you recommend them?

The sites itself usually sell the certificate way more expensive than the 'resellers', e.g. http://www.megasslstore.com/en/ is way cheaper than going to comodo directly, and you can even find cheaper resellers around.
But yeah Comodo works quite well, same for RapidSSL
