The seller says we won't be able to update. I have just called Juniper and at first they said it is impossible but later in the discussion they mentioned it should be possible but it will cost us "a lot of money" (quote)... Which makes very little sense to me, which is why I came here to ask
I'm sure you could update it however you might need the licensing in order for that which "costs a lot of money" However I'm not sure someone else on here with more knowledge should be able to answer it better for you.

You have to be logged in to Junipers site to download the installer. If you have the install package you can put it on the switch (for now, that could always change).
The problem is you don't have a license to run the software on a second hand switch like that, so technically it is illegal and you would be breaking the law using stolen software. Doesn't sound like a risk worth taking for a business.
