Shared Hosting environment put multiple web sites on one server. All of the web sites on the shared server use the same network connection, the same hardware resources, and the same software. This is ideal for small sites which doesn't require resource consuming applications or doesn't require high bandwidth. Normally on such servers, server administration will be the Webhost. VPS offers almost all functionality to the customer that he gets on a Dedicated Server without assigning a dedicated hardware (Machine) to the client. VPS best suits for the websites which requires more resources than the limit set on the shared server environment but not require fully dedicated Servers. Also it fits for the Client who wishes to use a different platform (Like different OS) and not concerned about resources. As you can see, resource limitations that exist on shared accounts are no longer of any importance for VPS owner
