Assign Multiple I.P Addresses to a single website
I want to know, how can i assign 2 more IPs to my single website, as my vps company offered me 3 Ips, i was using only 1 of them, now i want to use 2 more.
I would also like to know- will more ip help me to balance load of my website??
Thanks to all of you, who answer.
More IP addresses won't help to "balance the load". Actually it won't improve anything.
If your web server is under heavy load, it's best to move on a dedicated server.
yes you can do that, just create multiple identical host records with the same TTL pointing to different IP's
It will not help at all, infact it might actually make things worse if your web stack has to listen on 3 IP's
What sort of website is it? you could consider taking a second VPS on another node and replicating the mysql between them and pointing your site at 2 IP's this would load balance to some degree.
INCEPTION HOSTING LIMITED █ ->
XEN & OpenVZ VPS HOSTING █ ->
PHOENIX & MIAMI
& THE NETHERLANDS & UK
EU █ ->
XEN VPS RESELLER
You can just create 3 A records, regarding the performance, uuh, it won't help, everything come from the same server, so the only way to increase performance is to upgrade your server.
If you want to use DNS for load balancing the site, you're going to need at the least two servers. As they mentioned, pointing the domain to multiple IPs on the same machine won't improve anything, and is effectively useless.
You can do simple round robin with 2+ machines for redundancy.
