    set up the live streams

    Hi guys

I would like to set up the live stream host on the server. I want to know what software is the best to install on the server that will not restream the video on my vps to save the bandwidth unless when i send the request on the server to restream the video?

    Here's for e.g:

I have 100gb a month for my bandwidth. I don't want to waste them whole when I'm not watch the live stream. So when I watch the live stream by send the request to my server, it will then send the request to the stream server to recieve the data so the server will recieve the data and it will send me the data where I will watch the live stream on flash. When I stop watch the live stream, it will then stop send the request to the server which it will stop send the request to the stream server, so i will save my bandwidth.

And also it will support rtmp, rtmpe, rtsp, http, mms and m3u8 which it will allow me to host the rtmp on my vps.

what server do i need to run the live stream like on demond and what software will be able to meet in my requirements?

    thanks in advance

You can try Red5 as streaming server , is free and open source,
and Adobe Live Encoder as streaming feeder, is also free.

Thanks for your advise webhostal. Does red5 streams the live stream on the server for 24/7 or does they only stream when I send the request to the server in order to recieve the video data?

You can stream Live or On Demand,
When you stream Live the Stream can be accessed only as long as you stream it ( when you stop the stream from Adobe Live Encoder the flash player stops )
If the stream is on demand ( hosted audio / video ) they are streamed when a user accesses them.

Adobe Live Encoder have to be installed in the Computer where you are streaming. It captures the audio and video from your Camera or Device and streams to Red5.
