Hardware to upgrade cloud?
We are looking to upgrade our cloud that we use openstack and primarily run VMware in openstack. We were looking at the Dell Poweredge C6100. How do you think they stand up to run VPS / cloud hosting?
Our concern was the 3 drives per node more then anything. Any thoughts though appreciated.
Having 3 drives per node wouldn't worry me so long as all the VPS data is located on the SAN. 3 disks = RAID1+hot spare

We have run VM setups on both local disks and SAN storage with mixed results but were going to run this one on local disks hence the worry about the 3 drives.
The other options with in-house ready to (not buying new hardware) is we have a dell MD3000 we could use that for a central "SAN" and then run Poweredge C6100s as the hypervisors. Not the planned route but if people are having better performance in this way then we can.
I don't think we have setup openstack using the centralized storage so i myselsef am not sure how well it does or dosnt work with that.
