Nothing beat RAID10 if you have more then 2 drives. Other fancy name 50, 60 or 15 are just waste of time and hassle.

I would recommend using RAID 10 as it is best in performance either reading /writing and even when degraded, the performance is better than other RAID types.

The more disks in the array in a raid 10 the faster the total IOPs and general speed. One thing you may want to look to do is potentially implement a scalable storage back end versus a single large monolithic server node. This way you can get aggregated throughput through the storage nodes and mount them in the accessing server.

1big raid 10, use email notification and make sure your provider switches discs fast. Or, 60 and have a little more ease of mind..
