I feel comfortable with basic tasks such as building basic layouts, setting up the domain & etc. But I am not an advanced server side programmer.
I want to add a few web pages with products to choose from. Is there a good, free shopping cart thing I can integrate with my website to allow users to checkout with PayPal after picking selecting the items they want to purchase? If so, what is the best? Do I need to buy SSL? (PayPal will be taking care of the actual transaction part.) Thanks.
Magento as well is a very good option case of ecommerce solution

Of course there would be more options if you were including paid software in your choices. For simple requirements a free one should be fine. I've seen some paid ones that just seem to have too many features added over time. Could argue the "feature creep" applies to some of the free ones too. Paid ones include Miva Merchant (complicated to set up when I last saw it), ePages, jShop (which again seemed quite complicated but can produce a nice shop if you put the time and effort in). If your shop gets bigger you might decide that having a paid support service available is worth the extra, over asking on forums etc for free ones.
