I have two cPanel DNSONLY vps and the SOA serial numbers are out of sync:
SOA at address XX.XX.XXX.127 has serial 2013093011.
SOA at address XX.XX.XXX.132 has serial 2013093012.
So how do I fix this?
On another note, I tried to use two additional DNSONLY vps by registering them as child nameservers at my registrar, but after adding A records and NS records to the parent domain, and adding them to the cluster, they have a differen SOA serial number than the two above (although they match each other). They seem to be syncing OK, but shouldn't all four SOA serial numbers be the same?
Thanks, John. I had tried the WHM sync a couple of times, but I always forget to check for cpanel scripts. I ran "dnscluster syncall --full" and it did sync the SOA serial across the two oldest DNS servers.
The two new DNSONLY servers still show a different SOA serial:
Looks like your nameservers do not agree on the SOA serial. Ths SOA records as reported by your nameservers:
209.XXX.XX.207 -> 2013093011 <<< ns1 (one of the new ones)
199.XXX.XXX.44 -> 2013093011 <<< ns2 (one of the new ones)
69.XX.XX.127 -> 2013100209 <<< ns20
69.XX.XX.132 -> 2013100209 <<< ns21
NS1 and NS2 match each other, and the old ones, NS20 and NS21 match each other. But they aren't syncing so that all four are matching.
Got to love their redundant redundancy of redundant verbiage.
Is this because I have only the "ns20" and "ns21" listed as nameservers for the domain, even though the child nameservers have all four listed?
I believe that's correct (more confident than not) but their response error is so congested that it's tough to be certain. I'd compare it with http://network-tools.com/ results to be safe -- also check your 'domain.com' zone to ensure the appropriate NS records are listed/removed based on your config.
