    Wordpress Pretty Permalinks on Centos VPS

    I'm having real trouble making my Buddypress website use /%postname%/ structure since moving it to a Centos 6 VPS.

    I've checked that my htaccess file permissions are set to 644 and I've tried changing them to 777. My htaccess is as follows:

    Options +FollowSymLinks
    RewriteEngine On

    # BEGIN WordPress
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /bbpresstest/
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /bbpresstest/index.php [L]
    # END WordPress

    Wordpress isn't reporting any problems updating the settings, but every page I go to on the website says "Not Found: The requested URL /bbpresstest/whatever/ was not found on this server". I'm not sure where else to look for the problem.

    I assume you're running Apache since you didn't say.

    It sounds like you don't have mod_rewrite configured/installed/enabled.

    Check and make sure that's installed and working.

    Done! In the Apache config file AllowOverride was set to none. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
