Question Supermicro IPMI not loading ISO from Windows Share

    Hello all:

I want to install CentOS on a Supermicro server using its IPMI interface.

I set up a samba interface to share my CentOS mirror so I can mount it using the IPMI interface. I can load the share to my Windows desktop in my office so I know the share is working.
I used \\centos.unmeteredvps.net\CentOS for the location
with user name samba and centos for the password. I can browse
    directories and even download files.

I logged into the Web interface for the IPMI card on the server.
I then went to Virtual Media > CD-ROM Image on the web interface.
I filled in the form with the info to load the ISO file:

    Share host: centos.unmeteredvps.net
    Path to image: \CentOS\6.4\isos\x86_64\CentOS-6.4-x86_64-netinstall.iso
    User: samba
    Password: centos

When I click the Mount button, it says to check the status to see if the image mounted, but it always shows nothing is mounted.

Did I set the path wrong?
I am not sure what to do since it has no place for the share name.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Neil

Do you have a DNS resolver IP setup in the network settings of the IPMI? By default it cannot resolve host names.

That was the problem. I changed it to use the IP address instead of the host name and it mounted.

    Thank you,
    Neil
