    Best realistic hosting? (no unlimited's)

What are some of the best, you-get-what-you-pay-for hosts?

No unlimited bandwidth, diskspace (while TOS has limits & throttling) - just good honest hosting with backups (r1soft preferable),good security, good customer service and uptime.

There are plenty of hosts offering this, but maybe its important to tell what kind of budget you have and what your needs are when it comes to bandwidth and disk space.

Besides that also location and control panel needs would be good to mention if you have any preferences.

And of course be honest to yourself; dont try to host a busy website on a small account; explain to your hosts what you need and what you do (and if they dont want to listen to that and advice you properly, move to the next one because they are most likely not the host you want).

Hope this helps you in finding a good host for your needs.

Your budget should satisfy most "realistic" hosting providers who are not offering unlimited. I would say you can get exactly what you need for that kind of budget. How much disk/monthly bandwidth do you require or are expecting?

Ok, I think I've narrowed it down to the following:

    A Small Orange
    Stable Host
    MDD Hosting

    Thoughts?

You'll be fine with any of those - they're all reputable companies who have been in the business for awhile. Contact them directly and see who you like working with better.

You can find a number of decent webhosting companies for that money. Make sure to read customer reviews before you decide which one to use.

Asmallorange is in the fun of EIG at least, so it might be worth avoiding..

If you are hosting multiple sites then I would recommend you to get a reseller plan (separate Cpanel accounts for each website) and there are plenty of good choices under $20/month. I have used reseller accounts from a plenty of companies for my personal sites and have had good experiences with the following.

    1. Hawk Host
    2. NameCheap
    3. WebHostingBuzz

Just because EIG owns a company doesn't instantly make it bad. It runs independently at this time - similarly to how HostGator, Blue Host and their other operations run as.. well their own operations.

Heck ASO is still in the TierPoint/Colo4 facility at this time I believe as well which also sets it apart from the former two.

Relax. Judge based off their reputation and reviews - not some blanket argument.

Their main site may be in that data center, but from what I can see by tracerouting to a few of their customer servers they reside in Utah with the rest of EIG.

I almost signed back up with them after the hostgator fiasco I had after they decided to relocate the servers I was on.

They may still be good, but I wasn't risking it.
