Hello! I am pretty much newbie in web hosting so sorry if my questions will sound stupid
Right now im looking for VPS provider in EU. Planning to get few VPSes, 1GB ram, unmanaged. Looking for something inexpensive to start with. Since it will be simple LAMP setup i think it doesnt matter much OpenVZ or Xen/KVM it will be. (or i am wrong here?)
After some search i have 2 options in mind: OVH and Leaseweb.
I've read alot of good reviews about Leaseweb here, plus heard good things about them before. Prices are good so thye look like very nice option.
On other had OVH offers some extra features like DDoS protection or Android app to manage services which sounds like good addition. Resources on VPS and prices are about the same. The only difference that Leaseweb offers KVM containers while OVH has OpenVZ only.
So i want to ask for advice. What do you think would be a better choice? Or maybe you can suggest another provider you have good experience with?
I was thinking about ~8-10eur (10-14usd) per VPS. VPS with 1GB RAM and $3-4/month sounds abit... too extreme
You are right, it is extreme - but the adrenaline rush (when you keep pinging and wonder if it will ever come back online) is priceless
Joke on the side, you have a decent budget and can get a decent VPS for that money. OVH have both positive and negative reviews around here. I like Contabo with their Frankfurt datacenter, they also have reviews here.
OpneVZ is fine if you want to run Linux based virtual servers. KVM give you more choices in terms of the OS. €10 per instance is not a price to get a reliable VPS service. I know there are web hosts selling at such prices, but it is does not pay the cost of a quality hardware and network. You can give it a try however, just make sure you have backups of the data.
