Hosting a big site and I need some help

Long story short I've gotten into a situation that is way beyond my pay grade.
I need some help in hosting a site. It will have ~200.000 unique users monthly, a huge database and a lot of traffic.

I'm not even sure where to begin with all this.
Should I go for a dedicated server?
Will a 1gb port be enough? Obviously I'll need an umettered connection.
RAID setup? How much HDD space will be enough to be on the safe side?
Can 1 server even handle it?

I'm sure I've missed a lot of things that need to be said for a good answer so I'll keep a very close eye on this thread and respond asap.

    Thank you.

A trading site I'd suppose you'd call it, directed towards trading items from a game.

There will be a forum too. And that's about it.

Budget's not really an issue, but I don't want to go full overkill either. Maybe 30% more of what I need in terms of hardware, just to adjust for the scaling.

Well this is convenient. Currently I have a E3-1270v2, 32 GB RAM, 120GB x2 SSD HDD, 1gb/s unmettered connection dedicated server.

I suppose it will do just fine judging from what you just told me.

It would really depend on what type of site you have for that to work or not. Do you mind giving us more information?

Why not use a cloud server? It's basically a VPS and you will be able to scale it when you need to,
