Domain Name Deletion!!

A webhost recently deleted my domain name that was registered through them last year.

I owed no money, it is a personal vendatta this women has for me because she considers my sites competition to hers. She wrote me many emails and even tried to bully me with a cease and desist letter.

When I replied that I am doing nothing wrong and would have my attorney look into it, (which he did and confirmed no copyright infringement) she deleted my domain name that she had registered through bulk register's member program.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is there anything I can do about it? Bulk register says they can recover it but would need to place it in the original account. Hello, she would just delete it again or change it so it looks as if she owns it. I've already sent a trademark application out on this domain name also.

I have since found out that ANYONE who resells for bulk register can delete a domain without recourse from them. They will allow these bad business people to remain in their program AND continue to sell and delete people's domain names.

Most, if not all people think that when they register a domain they own it for life as long as they keep the payment up on it. But in reality, if they registered it through someone who uses bulk register, the person who is the BR member will really be the only one with 100% control over that domain and can change the ownership info to them if they wish.

She has done this to others and when resellers or clients try to leave her, she changes the admin contact info to hers! How can she be allowed to get away with this?

She also does not refund money via her 30 day guarantee and threatens to fight any chargebacks. I have read over 100 complaints against her for these very things in the last 3 days, after making my story public on 3 discussion forums!

Anyone here have any advice or stories similiar to share?

well it sounds like you were never owner of the account
if someone at that registrar can change accounts and you have proof of you beeing teh registered owner
(not just billing and technical) then you lawyer should get involoved or get a internet law lawyer.

on the other side go to dotster adn set up a account to control and register your own domains this way you can avoid this in the future
bummer to hear of your misfortune
def not cool of her to do
but may I ask why did you get involoved with someone that you may be in competition with and have them register your domain ???

Do you have proof of payment???

If so I would get myself a lwayer and sue her like she has never been before.

You must have some kind of contract do you?

This is not strange anyway because any middleman can change info on your domains so it is almost allways a matter of trust (and contracts!).

What is the company?

It would also be helpful to other people looking for a web host to see who this host is and to stay away. It also might open up more issues from other users who can relate who used her.

She will never win as long as you did not sign a sales draft or something similar. Let her fight the chargeback's. It waste her time and also lets her merchant bank see the way she runs her business.

Also, as I am sure you can see from others who had similar issues on these boards, write the BBB, FTC and AG office in her area. If you do not let them know, they can not help. Get the other 100 people who complained to do the same.

Just out of curiousity why would you register a domain name with someone who has a similar name? (if i read the first part correctly) and after the first cease and desist letter from this person why didnt you transfer the name to a different registrar? barring both of those issues if their is no possible copyright infringment why is this person so against allowing you this name, that they would do something illegal to prevent you from having it? what company is this that would do such a thing? whats their domain and the one in question? i really think that if your going to post something like you have all the info is needed.

Steve

You didn't give enough details, so there is some guesswork and assumptions involved in the solution. You might have your domain name restored at bulkregister.com, make sure you are listed as the registrant and that your e-mail address is listed for the admin contact. Then, transfer your domain to another registrar, where it will be completely in your control and out of hers.
