Is this allowed?
Re: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...hreadid=129996
To me, the above basically says "you get a free account and you have to sing our praises on WHT".
I'm not complaining or anything but wondered what the stance was on whether it was allowed. It could get a bit tricky if loads of people employed such tactics to get recommendations I suppose but wondered what others thought.Chief brew-maker at several hosting brands since 2002.

If it is that's horrible. If that guy wants advertising here, pay out the hundreds of a banner.
"How do you know they are good?"
"They pay me to say so" (right...!)
I can see it now, no honesty! What does one host say to the other? "(HostA) Want to go see a movie?" "(HostB) Sure, can your parents drive?"
I'm premium, and no, I did not have to pay $6 a month to figure that out.

Actually, I may have jumped the gun a bit as I see it specifies replying the requests in the WHT requests forum where I could have sworn it said replying to requests generally.

Yep, I think it's just poorly worded. Sounds like it's a trade-out---a reseller's account in exchange for replying to hosting requests.

And general promotion... You can guess were it was going, I have warned the member and if we see such tactics used we'll be quick to have the censor gun out

** Another time for WHTers to Scheme **
Yes, probably poorley worded..
I was basically looking to hire a Sales Rep in exchange for a reseller plan. No, I was not asking for a user to praise our company simply reply to Requests in the WHT request forum.
Secondly, I was only looking to employ one person to do this because we simply do not have the time to post our offers.
