CGI works on Windows 2000 the same way it works on Linux... You specify which applications should process the file when a certain extension is used. For example, files with the .pl extension could be set to be handled by the Perl.exe executable. This configuration is done in the "Application Configuration" dialog of the IIS admin module.

how do you set cgi scripts up if you can't CHMOD them?

I've used only Perl scripts on Windows 2000 (aside from ASP, of course), and only on a server with one site; there was no need to change permissions. But that may be different in a shared hosting environment.

Hi,

As far as I know there is no need to CHMOD cgi's on windows.

Thank you,

May be, may be not. Not having to CHMOD files doesn't mean not having to do any installation. If the only step required to install the script is to CHMOD it, well it will work, otherwise, you will have to read documentation of your script and follow each steps, and skip ones related to file permissions (CHMOD).

Thank you and good luck

Ok,

Win2k is hackable, yes, of course, NOTHING is hackproof. It's not only Win2k but Linux and Cobalt and what not too.

For the chmoding: Yes it will work, just upload. The perl driver will recognize it.

You'll still have to upload them to an executable directory though, and make sure ikonboard actually supports Windows NT - if it's trying to use the flock() function (for Unix) then you're going to get in trouble...
