Question

switch from slave to master

Would would be the advantage or disadvantage of changing a server over from slave to master? (cpanel/whm)

There would be no disadvantage and/or advantage; you are simply changing the role of that particular server in your DNS setup.

Depends if you have accounts on the servers if you want to set up a master slave relationship between two servers. You can do it by making the master the one you have accounts on and a new server. If you have accounts on both servers it is not a good idea to switch as it has a tendency to break your DNS entires and takes a whiel to get working. Inother words you are going to see downtime if there are customers on the box you are switching over.

There is a full explanation of how to do a master slave setup on the cpanel forums and it is not as easy as you may think.
