The resignation came three days after a New York Times editorial accused Perle of having a conflict of interest by representing Global Crossing, a bankrupt telecommunications firm that is seeking to overcome Defense Department objections to its sale to Chinese investors. Perle quit his consulting job with Global Crossing Thursday
