The "APU Quad Core A8" should read more like "AMD Quad Core A8".
I'd go for the Intel personally. AMD performance is just lacking as of late.

I believe you will get better cpu performance out of the i5 system and better gpu performance out of the amd system.
What do you plan on doing with the system? If you're just browsing the web and such, either of them would work perfectly fine. Gaming the amd should come out on top, and for other things the Intel will.

I havent ever used the A8 or i5, so i cant really comment, but im using an A6, and its brilliant, so im guessing the a8 being newer, would just be even better, so im going to say go with the A8, but its self choice i think really...

Intel may have better performance per core but the i5-3120m has two physical cores and 2 HT pseudo cores, the AMD A8 APU in the other hand has 4 physical cores, adding to that it will give better graphics performance.
IMO, i'd go with AMD in this round

Thanks..btw,after a recent survey,i found that 3rd generation core i5 laptop is simirlarly priced as a AMD quad core A10..difference is that the AMD has 6 gb RAM and 1.5Gb Graphics card(out of which 1 gb is dedicated to gaming) and the i5 has 4gb RAM and 1GB graphics card.Which should I go for?Everyone is saying 3rd gen i5 beats AMd A10 quad core, but the extra RAM and Graphics is making me more inclined towards the AMD

if you need the graphics then get the laptop with the graphics, if not, go intel

It all depends on what you want to do with it. Will you be gaming on it?
If yes, what video card comes with each. If the intel laptop has the HD3000, then I suggest go with the AMD. If the laptop comes with HD 4000 then it depends on what the AMD comes with.
Don;t worry about the ram. That you can add later for cheap. The CPU and GPU you can not change, unless you buy a new laptop.
