Airport seizure report
The Transportion Security Administration has released what airport screeners in the US have taken in the last 13 months.
The total exceeds 4.8 million items. Some of the more unusual items taken included a circular saw, a trailer hitch,
horseshoes and metal wall hangings depicting the Greek god Apollo.
The more numerous items were 1.4 million knives, more than a thousand guns and 15,666 clubs. And lots and lots of butane lighters and box cutters.
The airports apparently decide individually what to do with these items. Some melt them down, others offer them for purchase on ebay. You'll get fewer complaints from over performing than from over promising.
