These directories are owned by different owners. The approval of your web site submission and the time it is needed for the approval depends on each directory owner and on the quality of your web site.

Let's say this deal is only workable if you already have a somewhat established website/business.

Definitely not something that I would recommend to newbies/ new websites

Actually your statement is really contradicting, illogical and false in the same time. Already established web sites/business do get free back links from their visitors and clients which is called in SEO/SEM (Link Bait). While newly established websites usually have no visitors or clients to help the web site grow. Which is why, if we have to choose which sites need SEM more, then for sure newly established sites will need it more.

In anyway, your comparison is also based on which need it and which does not need it. This comparison is also illogical and false. Every business needs SEM to compete and grow, whether it is newly established or already established.
