I posted this over at SitePointForums and didn't get much of a response. I thought many of you might actually have some Little League (or similar) webhosting clients and might have an idea of what they're using for on their websites.
I can use your help.
I've been approached by my local Little League about putting up a website for them. They've pointed me to another Little League website where I can see that someone is doing a huge amount of manual work keeping all the scores and league standings updated.
I'd like to build the best site I could for my community's Little League site, but I'd like to automate it as much as possible using Perl or PHP scripts.
However, I can't find any good packages out there. I've been to Hotscripts, ResourceIndex, Perl Archive - nothing. I went to DMOZ under Sports Software and found PC programs that help leagues develop team schedules or I've found some software to help you keep track of your own team's statistics.
But I've found nothing that would help put a league online - basic team info, team schedules, and league standings.
Can anyone suggest anything? Does anyone know of any script/product that could be adapted to this purpose? I'm even willing to consider a PC-based product that would create HTML pages I can upload to a server, but I'd prefer some kind of PHP/Perl database solution if possible.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! It's for a good cause.
Thanks in advance.
