    Cheap VPS?

    Hey!

I need to find a cheap ($7-15/month) and reliable VPS, can someone help me? I need it just for my forum and website.

    Thanks in advance!

Just google "cheap vps" - there are a few options for you. You should know though that a sub-$10/month VPS is going to have limitations somewhere - performance, support, redundancy, or something else. It's just not reasonable to expect a high quality product at that level; there's not enough margin for decent hosts to get into it (hence why most rates are higher than that).

Are you looking for a control panel? Any management? I believe your budget might be too low.

What type of forum are you hosting? How much traffic does it have? These are important considerations to take into account with a VPS that cheap, as the amount of resources will be on the lower end of the scale.

BurstNET has some affordable VPS packages you might become interested in if you check them out. Then there is VPSNET and lowendbox.

Check these providers out and be sure to do homework and see if they are the right host for you and your website.

yes and you have to pay for the other 6 months when you start your contract
so you pay 90$ for 12 months of VPS hosting. i never used them so can`t vouch for them

another good offer is the 9 EURO vps from leaseweb:

I recommend that you take a look at Prometeus.com/IperWeb.com, they have really good plans and are within your budget. A good tip is to look at the offer section here at WHT.

Other host within you're budget are:
    GetKVM.com
    Urpad.net

Seconding BurstNET. Their premium VPSes can't be beat at that price.

They are at the bottom of my benchmark list. See the test here.... I/O speed at 19 MB/s, UnixBench score of 321.
And they don't care about their customers at all. Search the forum and see all the bad reviews, and there is a lot of them.

All these benchmarks are largely useless and pointless. Signing up for a host just to run benchmark and then hand it back after the month is no indication of overall service, reliablity or performance.

What I/O you get depends on who is doing what and when. I just ran an I/O test on my Burst VPS and got 134mb/s 5 mins ago and hitting up arrow and enter a few times it went as low as 61mb/s and as high as 159mb/s.

People need to stop making decisions based on someone elses 10 min evaluation of a service.

Was that a benchmark for their Premium VPS? You don't specify in your blog, and you really should.

No, it's the XEN plan. The name of the package is VPS PACKAGE #2. I can see that they use Premium in front of all of their Premium plans, so since I'm not using the Premium name, and have tested a XEN plan, I think I don't have to write that I'm NOT testing their Premium plan.

i discovered another interesting offer from OVH: http://www.kimsufi.com/fr/vks/index.xml
but you need to pay for 3 months in advance so that would be 15 euro for a 512 MB RAM VPS

Bleh...one client, one node, and not indicative of typical overall service levels provided.
The statement we don't care about our client is not based in reality, and is just plain ridiculous.
If this was a problem with our service levels, you'd hear alot more complaints around here, considering we have 20,000+ VPS packages in active service.
A random complaint or bad review is an excellent ratio, and far below what should be expected at a budget hosting provider.

No, I am pretty sure it was NOT a premium level service.

That means you were using your benchmark result of the Budget Plan in response to another's positive review about the Premium Plan. Even if benchmarking in general is relevant here (and its debatable whether or not it is) you are comparing apples to oranges. What good is that?

I'm sure their Premium plans is much better then their budget plans. Not so sure that their support is any faster, or that they care more, but I don't know. Has not tested their Premium plan, and are not going to use any of my money to do so.

Sorry for the mix up and that I based my reply on my budget plan test.

I've had very good support experiences with them. From a technical perspective, their team knows their stuff.

Most of the negative reviews on them are things like "my bill was only three weeks late and THEY SHUT ME OFF " and "I submitted a support ticket and it took them 45 MINUTES TO FIX IT! " and "I tried to run a CounterStrike server on my $5 VPS and IT WON'T WORK ", etc.

I'll give you that they aren't exactly warm and friendly. Their responses are blunt and to the point. They won't hold your hand and tell you what a pretty website you have, but they'll take care of you when something of theirs fails. I've never used their management (obviously), but their basic support is competent and much faster than some other companies I've used in the past.

So I stand by my recommendation. You'll have a very hard time beating their Premium VPSes for uptime, stability, and network performance at that price point.

I don't know the details of your experience with them, so this isn't meant to downplay your concerns, nor is the above directed at you. Just making a general observation.

I've used Cinfu.com long time ago and their service were pretty good. As I can remember, their nodes are located at Hetzner and price is pretty low.
