Quick memory (RAM) question
PC100 RAM came out before PC133 ram, right? How long ago was PC100 standard? Or, when did PC133 RAM start coming out?
My friend is trying to figure out what type of RAM he has, including PIN number, on his ancient computer so I can buy him something on ebay.
He said his computer is like 7 years old, can that still be PC133?
Thanks,
Dan Gessler

It may be PC66 (or whatever was before 100...)... but assuming it is SD Ram, because ram is so cheap, I would just get the 133 ram, which will just operate at 66.

Interesting.. so for example if I get 133 or 100 RAM, and if his system supports 66 RAM, it will still work as normal?
Thanks,
Dan

He shouldn't expect a major increase in performance though. PC66 RAM won't help in terms of performance that much.

I just tried to put 2 256 MB PC 133s that were supposed to be backward compatible into my computer and it didn't work. Need to get PC 100s.

Try crucial.com, they have a very good database of PC models and the memory they use. The database may go back far enough to pick up your friends PC.
