Semi-new to the android world.

Hello All!

I just switched from a blackberry bold to the Samsung Galaxy 3 last Tuesday. I must say, I am quite pleased with the SG3. AT&T gave me a 6 months early upgrade to this phone for $100 plus tax ($106) and over night shipping. Can't say I am not pleased phone has been great so far. The only complaint I have right now is the email client. Work uses cPanel email and not google apps. The stock IMAP client doesn't really work great with push email. I have tried k9 email client from the app market, it works great at first and then it craps out after about 5 or 6 emails being received.

Can anyone recommend a good email client for the android that supports push? I'd like to be able to mimic the blackberry push email as close as possible. I don't want to have to reboot my phone every so often for k9 to work properly.

Also, I have to say the swiftkey keyboard was WELL worth the purchase.

I'm willing to spend money for a good application for the push email.

Right now, i am forced to download work email to gmail and use the gmail app, but I don't like this because it has be forced to use gmail.com as my email client on my work stations, while it is highly convenient, I am not happy with it and would prefer to be able to separate all of my email.

Looking forward to your recommendations

Does the cPanel email have a web-based interface that you can log into? Or did you search the android market for cPanel-compatible email clients?

I've resolved it by flashing cyganogenmod on to my phone. Then proceeded with the installation of k9, and everything works flawlessly, no complaints.

Web based email wouldn't have been a resolution either though, as I would still not get alerts. Thank you for your help though.

Push is done on server side, so no client can give you push email unless the email server offers it. Even then the client must be compatible with the push technology (e.g. ActiveSync)

What email server is being used at work?

I'm ok with that; phone's battery lasts longer and even seems more responsive, not that it was slow. I just no longer have the bloatware

Actually CynaogenMod's OTA are often months (or even years) ahead of providers. Many providers are currently selling phones with a 2 years of build of Android on it ((2.2)Froyo and even (2.3)Gingerbread). Cyanogenmod 9 Stable is 4.0 (ICS) and they are almost ready for their first RC of Cyanogenmod 10 (Jellybean).
