looking for a CHEAP and reliable vps host

I need a vps for personal use, i plan to have on it one of those OSes: Debian or Ubuntu server

What I will use it for:
    • openvpn server (personal for visiting important sites while in public)
    • tinyproxy (same usage as above)
    • LAMP, hosting some small sites, not meant for public availability.
    • ftp, to share files with some people, also not for public and very low activity.
    • possibly, use the bandwidth left at the end of the month to do some file transfer and backups ..etc.

I prefer if this would have more than 1 static ip-v4 address, but not important.

I need the cheapest possible vps solution.

Reliability is also important, I need to have it online 99% of the time.

this appears to have some very good prices, and have 2 static ips:
    virpus.com
however, i read that its unreliable ..

    Thanks.

Europe or US, or other locations?
And I had search for other hosts then Virpus, I tested them earlier this year, and my server was more down than up.

What is your budget? Some may see cheap as $5 or less while I may see "cheap" as $10 - 20 USD.

how much hard disk, RAM and ETA. bandwidth you need? (because you want to share files)
    and what virtualization you need?

What I mean by cheap: not more than $10, and preferably less than $5.

they do have a vps for $15/year .. , are they reliable ?

currently, they are out of stock on the cheap offers, the cheapest they have now is the one for 5.95/month .. I can wait.

You understand that if you want to use a $15/year as a mission critical VPS, you will be burned. I think most shared hosts give better service then a $15/year VPS.

HD: doesn't mattter, few gb's are fine.
RAM: 128, or 256 could be better
bandwidth: not important, only intend for files transfer with the left over bandwidth, not an important requirement.

As long as its available online, with acceptable ping time, then it will be fine.

I could try their next best offer, 3.5/month is still good and better ram.

I prefer EU, cause I am in north africa.
but if i find a good box in north america, i won't complain, I dealt with a dedicated box in canada, and it was very good.

You can take a look at Prometeus and their offer in the offer section...
$4.25 for a Biz XEN plan with 256/256 MB of RAM. They have their DC in Italy, so not far from North Africa.

99% availability is anything but "high" up-time, just about any host short of a completely incompetent bunch of morons should be able to maintain that.

BuyVM is about as good as I've found for "cheap" reliable services.

BuyVM is a good option. You should also browse the offers section here and maybe check out LowEndBox/LowEndTalk.

Have you checked cybexhosting.com . I would suggest CybexHosting, since I have very good experience with them. Their VPS server price list start from $3.

I second this. I have a Reseller account with them, and the service is amazing for such a low price.

Cheap and reliable are really oxymorons.

For the extreme budget realm, there's a few good providers, but they're still not best compared to the overall scene of hosting. At some dollar level, you start cutting corners to provide the low prices, and it's an avalanche of problems from there. Cheaper equipment and non-commercial software can be your downfall.
