    Sendmail

Currently I can not send any mails in or out of my box! I've compiles and install sendmail many times.

On boot sendmail start [OK] but can't send using php (configured php.ini to point to /usr/sbin/sendmail) but no luck.

I've installed webmin and remove sendmail, then install (thru webmin) the sendmail RPM and then send email from their but still no luck.

Is it a problem my hostname is not localhost.

I previously have other mail server installed on my windows box on the same LAN and mails flows well.

Please help, if anyone could share your sendmail configuration I will be much appreciated.

It will help if you have some more detailed description of the actual problem e.g. Can't connect to the mail server from client? Email sent but not delivered? Or something along such lines. That will like us help you better.

Everything looks normal, just that the mail doesn't reach the adress outside or local. I haven't setup mailboxes either.

Please give me some commands to run, I will post the results cause I see no errors, just that mail doesn't delivered.

    Thanks.

When all else fails, view the logs. Check /var/log/messages and /var/log/maillog.

One thing I like to do is try mailing from the command line. Try something like this:

    >
    > /usr/sbin/sendmail -v email@address.com
    type test message here
    .
    >

... where email@address.com is replaced with a valid address. To end your message, type a dot (period) on a blank line.

The -v usually helps to diagnose any issues.

    Hope this helps.

    Question Isn't this necessary?

Dont you need to set up at least one mailbox to test functionality?
