Nexus Tablet Details

It looks like some details leaked on the first Google/ASUS Nexus Tablet.

http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2012/06/th...t-the-nexus-7/

Most of the details were already guessed prior to this however it looks like this may be the first screenshot.

7 inch screen
1 GB RAM
Quad Core Tegra 3
8 or 16 GB of Storage
Double the screen density of the Kindle Fire
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

One thing the link ads that I have not seen before is NFC on the tablet, I assume it will mainly be used for NFC tags or Android BEAM. There could be a possibility that Google Wallet may also work on the tablet.

It looks like Google is aiming this directly at the Kindle Fire.

I might buy one. I have been developing only for the Kindle Fire due to the MAJOR android fragmentation. I might start developing for this device as well.

What I am really looking forward to is the new 10.1" Kindle Fire later this year.

Hello,
One of the things that ICS (Iced Cream Sandwich) started to put an end to was fragmentation. ICS was the first version of Android to set some level of Developer Standards, This trend should be accelerated further with Jelly Bean.

I will say that sticking with the Kindle Fire from a development point of view may cause future trouble. The Kindle Fire is running an outdated version of Android with no clear path to moving to some of the newer API Levels. The Kindle fire currently makes up 32% of the US Android Tablet Market share, and this number is expected to drop once the Nexuses are up for sale. Its a bit foolish to limit your apps to a small percentage of the market.
