Is anyone actually working at Velocity Servers?

I just paid for use of a game server from Velocity Servers. I did a bit of research, and they seemed to offer the best package at the best prices for what I wanted. I contacted quite a few companies, about the server that I wanted, and I thought that Velocity was one of them. I had resolved not to purchase from a company that did not respond to my inquiries. It seems I may have made a mistake in making my purchase from Velocity Servers. I have been unable to contact them in any way since I have made my purchase. I have tried email, support tickets, live chats, and have even looked up their phone number online (it is oddly not listed on their web site). None of my email messages have been returned except by auto-responders. None of my support tickets have been addressed. When I click on the live chat button on the website I get sent to a blank page. The phone number I found has a generic male voice that says I need to leave my name and number and "they" will get back to me. When I google the address provided by the better business bureau, I find a house in the woods outside of Buffalo, NY.

Now, I don't CARE if the business is run from a house in the woods. If it is, more power to the owner. What I DO want is someone to actually provide me with the service I paid for. Is there anyone actually working at this company? If so, please contact me so that I can get my game server up and running. I have people waiting for this thing to start up. If not, please refund my money. I will take my business elsewhere.

I have been frustrated

I have been frustrated because every avenue of contact I have tried has failed. Even the live chat feature is not functioning. When I click on the chat link that claims live chat is working, I get sent to a blank page.

You may want to contact JonBiloh as he's the owner of the company. I do know they operate a full office and have several employees who work out of it. I wouldn't be too quick to judge places of business based off street view (especially in upstate NY).

I wish I had a house "in the woods", I think that means they are doing good, no?

I grew up in upstate NY

Listen, don't get me wrong. I grew up in Upstate NY. There are MANY wonderful small businesses that are run from people's garages and basements in the country. As I said, I don't care if the business is run from someone's home. All I want is the service that I paid for. It seems to me that even a one man show working from his bedroom would want to be able to allow his customers to contact him. Every channel that I have used so far has failed. Now, I realize that 12 hours may seem like a short period of time for someone to get back to me, but I was contacted in most cases by the other companies I wrote to in LESS time and I had not even paid them. In some cases, I had a response in minutes after requesting information. True, there were some companies that did not contact me at all, but those that did, did so in less than 8 hours. Those that did not, did not respond at all.

I have a passsel of children and some adults who desperately want to play on my server. My home server is not able to deal with them. I have told them that I am getting a server. A simple "We will help you when we can" would go a long way to easing my worries. As it stands, it feels like I have contracted with a company that is not interested in providing the service I paid for. I tried to use the demonstration server that is listed on the web site (unfortunately after I had paid for mine) and the minecraft program tells me that the site does not exist. NOT that it cannot connect, but that the site is not valid. These are NOT good signs to me. It seems the entire site is non-functional. This does not reflect well on the professionalism of this company. I will attempt to contact the individual mentioned earlier in this post, and if the situation is resolved I will gladly retract everything I have written so far. At this point, however, I am not feeling very comfortable with what I am experiencing with this company. If my experience is indicative of how things generally work for this company, I would not recommend it to others. As I have said, if I am proved wrong, I will gladly retract everything I have written thus far. So far, I have no reason to do so.

I received a refund.

Shortly after I wrote my last post, I checked my email and discovered three things. The first was a message from Mr. John Biloh asking how he could help. The second was a message from paypal stating that my purchase had been refunded. The third was a message from an individual named Alex Vial stating that my money was refunded. I wish that things had worked out since Velocity Servers did seem to offer the best deal for what I was looking for. I am satisfied none the less. As far as the rest is concerned, the company really should make a better attempt at communicating with it's customers. I should not have had to resort to using this venue to get their attention.

Thank you for helping me resolve this situation.

Hugh,

I think our emails to you may have been caught in your junk mail, because you just recently responded to the multiple emails sent to you (the emails, sent by us, to you, we're done before your recent posts here). Velocity Servers doesn't provide 24/7 support as it is a game server provider. It's a best-effort unmanaged service.

If you're looking for a more full service game server I would recommend www.artofwarcentral.com.

We've issued you a full refund.

Additionally you make mention of the website not working -- I took a look at the Velocity site and didn't find a single dead link or other problem. Please email me what problems you had with the website.

Good luck in the future!

A Post Script: Mr. John Biloh has written me again asking that I post that I have been refunded and that he wishes me well in my search for a provider. I also hold no animosity. I do wish that things had worked out, but am satisfied that I was refunded. Thanks, Velocity Servers for your prompt response once this was brought to your attention.
