Where to download Windows XP? (I have a legitimate license key.)
Hello,
I tried to google, but found mostly linkes to torrent websites.
I need to rebuild an older laptop with fresh installation of Windows XP. It has a valid license key on a sticker under the laptop, so all I need is a link to download the actual disk.. and then I'll burn it to DVD and then instal.
Does anyone know where I can find the download?
Thanks!

Looks like you are going to need an OEM copy of XP.
Could you contact the manufacture and have them send one to you?

I tried that first already. ASUS told me that they won't send me anything. They said I should "find it online".

Your best bet will be to just download an OEM/Retail copy from a torrent site (even though it sounds dodgy, your not really breaking any laws), pretty sure they have removed direct links for XP.
If you wish to avoid that route, try contact Windows.

Only problem with torrent links is they could be backdoored so you would need to SHA1/MD5 compare and ensure the ISOs are legit and unmodified.

I would recommend trying the link posted by mg-. Microsoft has a media replacement program. Try filling out their form (it's listed under the section "Media replacement for users of system builders' computers") and see if they have any replacement XP discs available. If not, try contacting the original manufacturer of the system for a replacement disc. If still no luck, eBay or maybe a friend who has a disc might be your best bet.

MSDN would be the place to download your copy.

There are various links out there to downloads of Windows 7 and Office 2010 through Digital River (who sell Microsoft software). I know Vista ones used to be available too, but I'm not sure if it goes as far back as Windows XP! But that's what I'd check, as at least you know you are getting an official ISO that way.
If not, TechNet or MSDN if you have a subscription?

My answer as well.. but he/she would not be here if so.
Ebay is at least $25 for a disk... for someone broke (not saying this person is) or doing a favor, $25 can be a lot of money.
I'm surprised some of the "legit" ebay XP disks are going for $120 and up! WOW.... lol
